It was in fact a Friday evening and my bistro turned out to be absolutely booked. It was starting to get chaotic but not more than ordinary for any Friday evening. I could see it was going to be a very good night for us. Unexpectedly Tim came out running up to me from the back. "We are gonna be in trouble!" he whispered in my ear.

Our deli has a Scotsman Prodigy ice maker. It has worked great for a long time for me, but like every piece of equipment in a restaurant, there's always something... My partner and I pulled the panel off of the unit and automatically I could tell the water pump was in fact bad since it was smoking and smelled like the electric motor to the water pump had burnt up. The ice machine is out of warrantee so all of our service calls on the ice machine were getting pricy. I knew the part that we needed was the water pump, and so I figured I could get the part and repair it by myself.
I got a hold of the sales person from our dealer, who was practically asleep at the time, he said to me they dont generally stock Scotsman parts, I would need to hold out till Monday morning to get the part ordered thereafter it would take two to three weeks for our part to get in. This was in fact simply unacceptable. I was in no way, shape, or form going to buy bagged ice for the following two weeks.
I had my associate take control at the front entrance door and I walked into my office and closed the door. I slid into my workdesk chair, the flawed part in my palm. "Why does it continually have to be this way?" I thought. I gazed down towards the water pump and came across a little sticker label at the base of it. The part model number was right there.
I promptly cranked up my laptop and popped up a internet browser. I put the part number in the search bar "Come on.... Please!" I begged. I opened up one of several web pages in the search and discovered the pump I had been seeking. I happily doubled clicked the "Add to Cart" button and had become floored to see that despite having quick shipping; the pump had been less expensive than if I were to purchase it from the dealership!
I opened up the entrance doors to the diner on Tuesday morning and saw the package placed there in front of the entrance. I cut it open and there was in fact my new water pump.
